Ordering Chaos: A Print and Pattern Collection for Street Wear
Inspired by the essence of chaos, this collection showcases urban life’s eclectic style and energy. Through bold color, disruptive geometric motifs, and unexpected design, this collection embraces the beauty within the chaos and rebellion of street culture. Chaos runs our world; without it, we wouldn’t have anything to put in order. The ancient Greeks believed that chaos was the first omnipresent being before the Gods, and from her, the earth, sky, light, and darkness were born. The Oxford Dictionary defines chaos in terms of physics as “behavior so unpredictable as to appear random.”
Streetwear can be undefinable, yet you know it when you see it. I embraced the DIY ethos of streetwear culture by making each motif using shoes, random application of color, and abstracted textures. This collection becomes a canvas for self-expression by using distressed textures and deconstructed motifs that add a rebellious edge, mirroring the gritty aesthetic of the urban landscape. This design is the culmination of creativity, where self-expression is supreme. It celebrates the intersection of chaos with crafting textiles that resonate with the pulse of the city streets.

Skateboard Photoshoot & Swatchbook
For this collection, we were allowed to develop a physical product in addition to the fabric swatch book. I chose to create custom skateboard decks, sourcing pre-made decks and utilizing SCAD's on-campus printing services to produce vinyl adhesive stickers, which I applied to the underside of the boards. To showcase the designs, I styled and organized a photo shoot in my neighborhood, selecting backdrops and styling that complemented the aesthetic of the skateboard decks.
For my final swatch book piece, I used Contrado printing services to print onto specialty fabrics like fleece and sport-wear jersey fabric, which is waterproof and stretchy. Then, I created a bound book holding these swatches together.
